VCN Gives Keynote Speech At The Opening Of The Voice Expertise Centre In Belgium

The VCN were invited to provide a keynote speech to 250 SLT’s, surgeons and other professionals at the opening of the STEM EXPERTISE CENTRUM at the University of Leuven, which is about 30 kms east of Brussels.

Icelandic Study Into Voice Problems For Teachers

At the Spring Meeting, we were honoured to have the eminent speech and language therapist PhD, Valdis Jonsdottir, to present three papers during the day. The Nordic region has a long history in conducting well designed and structured research into a variety of vocal issues, particularly with teachers.

In the final 2008 ASM session on Sunday, Agata and Jadwiga told us about the voice situation in Poland, then encouraged us to join them in practical work. Exercises for resonance, registers and intonation aimed for good posture, deepening breathing, strengthening the muscles involved in voice production, “painting” sound with “colours” and making Big Hungry bear groans to centre the voice.
